Located next to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the 3,000 m2 facility is the only commercial express and freight hub in Vietnam with in-house customs and its solid security system.
The new facility is seamlessly integrated into TNT's air and road network, and features advanced freight processing technology, the latest x-ray scanning machines, RF shipment tracking systems, automated weight and volume scanners, CCTV surveillance and alarm systems. This has earned the facility TAPA ‘A' status.
The link from Vietnam to TNT's recently opened Regional Hub represents a strategic advantage, greatly streamlining Vietnam's access to China and European markets. TNT's own Boeing 747 freighter flies three times weekly between Liege, Singapore and Shanghai.
The new facility in Vietnam also leverages TNT's Asia Road Network, which currently stretches more than 7,500 km across 127 cities, connecting Vietnam to China, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
According to Mark van Den Assem, TNT Vietnam's country managing director, Vietnam is fast becoming the world's manufacturing base for hi-tech equipment and the garment industry.
"TNT already possesses one of the strongest and most extensive networks in Vietnam, especially with the existing International & Domestic Operations Centre in Hanoi that was opened in August last year," he said.
TNT's operations director for Asia, Chris Spanjaard, added: "Vietnam bridges Southeast Asia and China, and the additional Ho Chi Minh City International & Domestic Operations Centre is critical in expanding TNT's presence and connectivity in the region."
