Ryder System has appointed John Williford to the newly created position of president of Global Supply Chain Solutions, effective June 23rd.
Williford comes to Ryder from Golden Gate Logistics, where he served as president & CEO since 2006. Prior to that, he spent 25 years as part of Consolidated Freightways - CNF, most recently serving as president & CEO Menlo Worldwide.
NYK Logistics (UK) has appointed Steve Russell as sales director. He also takes a place on NYK's board of directors. Russell joins the company following a period working with NYK in a consultancy role. Prior to this, he spent nineteen years with the former Christian Salvesen, most recently as a director.
FreightScan has appointed Jae Gan as director of Software Engineering. Gan has twelve years of experience in real-time software, e-commerce technologies, software architecture, quality processes and configuration management, with specialties in the fields of aerospace, Internet technologies and end-user applications. Most recently, he was senior software configuration management engineer at Intuit. Prior to that he was a self-employed consultant focusing within the fields of Web design, Windows applications, database-driven applications and embedded real-time applications.
Mallory Alexander International Logistics has appointed Terry Maready as chief information officer. Most recently, Maready was vice president & chief technology officer of Aegis Communications Group. Prior to joining Aegis he developed and implemented technology systems for leading mid-size supply chain service providers. Maready entered the supply chain sector in 1998 when he joined Exel Transportation Services (formerly Mark VII Transportation).
Cargo 2000 has appointed Tom Presnail as regional director for Asia-Pacific. Presnail spent ten years in Asia in senior executive positions with KLM. He moved to Tokyo from Canada in 1995 to become director of sales & operations, North Asia, and moved to Singapore in 2002 when he was promoted to director of operations, Asia Pacific. He left KLM in 2005 to return to Canada. Most recently, he has been engaged in the development and delivery of numerous Cargo 2000-oriented training programs and workshops for Air France/KLM.
Traxon Europe has appointed Carola Bodach as the new area manager for sales in Spain and Southern Europe, in addition to Turkey and Malta - markets for which she has been responsible since 2006.
Transwide has appointed Harry Doms as manager of its logistics service providers network. He will be based in Brussels, Doms has more than 25 years of industry experience, working for companies such as Kuehne+Nagel, ABX Logistics, Maersk and Interchain.
International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) has appointed Captain Rodolfo Fernandez and Armen Manlapat as terminal managers for Bauan International Port Inc (BIPI) and Subic Bay International Terminal Corp (SBITC), respectively.
Before joining ICTSI, Fernandez was vessel master for eight cargo vessels travelling around the world. In 2003, he was president of Bibby International Philippines, in 2000 he was vice president for operations of Smith Bell Crewing Agency/ Ship Management, in 1993 he became port captain in Aboitiz Shipping Corp, and in 1992 was the department head of Mindanao Polytechnic College in General Santos City.
Manlapat has been assistant project manager for the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. He was project manager for Razon International Stevedoring Corp (RISCO), and administration & finance officer of RISCO in Subic. He was also the chief payroll officer of RISCO in Jeddah Islamic Port in Jeddah, and the payroll examiner in E Razon Inc in South Harbor, Manila.
Both companies are subsidiaries of ICTSI. BIPI manages the Bauan International Port in Batangas; SBITC manages the New Container Terminal-1 in Subic Bay Freeport.
Global Link Logistics has named Hessel Verhage as company president, effective May 28th. Verhage joined Global Link in 2006 as vice president of sales, and was most recently vice president of trade. Before joining Global Link, he was director of AIT's international division, prior to that he spent ten years with Menlo Worldwide, eventually holding the position of director of ocean services.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority has appointed Ms Joyce Bliek as manager of the Container department. She has been interim head of this division since January.
Ms Bliek joined P&O Nedlloyd's marketing division in 1999. A year later she moved to the Port Authority's consultancy department, and from 2002 onwards, she was employed in the commercial division, focusing successively on contacts with shippers and the development of the short-sea market sector.
Horizon Lines has appointed Jacob Wegrzyn as senior vice president & general manager for its Puerto Rico division, effective June 23rd.
Two weeks ago, Horizon placed six employees on administrative leave following management's review of issues raised by the Dept of Justice's investigation into the pricing practices of certain domestic shipping lines operating in the Puerto Rico trade.
Two of the six employees subsequently resigned from the company.
Wegrzyn will replace one of the suspended employees, but not, apparently, one of those who resigned.
Wegrzun joins Horizon Lines with more than eighteen years' experience in the transportation and distribution industry in Puerto Rico, and most recently served as vice president, Puerto Rico & Caribbean service, for New Penn Motor Express.
