National Air Cargo has received approval from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to operate a Certified Cargo Screening Facility at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
The newly designated facility will help relieve congestion related to screening domestic and international air cargo shipments at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and other airports in southeastern Michigan.
Currently 100% of cargo loaded on narrow body aircraft and 50% on wide body aircraft is required to be screened. The US Congress has mandated that, by August 2010, 100% of all domestic and international cargo on wide body passenger aircraft must be screened.
