Acknowledging the current difficult economic climate, MercuryGate CEO Monica Wooden said that the company's growth reflects that there has never been a better time to implement a TMS,
MercuryGate's solutions allow shippers, carriers, freight forwarders and 3PLs to plan their transportation, execute freight movements and analyse the performance of all involved. Customers can optimise loads, rate and route loads, spot quote through private and public bid boards, tender freight, track movements, audit carrier freight invoices and send customer invoices.
MercuryGate enables customers to move the straightforward parcel, LTL and truckload shipments as well as more demanding multi-leg ocean, air, and rail movements, and then analyse the information gathered to provide key performance indicators on their internal business as well as on carriers, suppliers and all parties in the supply chain.
According to Siemens Energy, the recent integration of the MercuryGate TMS and Siemens' SAP/ERP system has provided optimised carrier and mode selection, improved cost allocation and improved transportation charge timeliness.
And customer RR Donnelley said that the MercuryGate TMS has enabled it to reduce dispatch bid process time from about two hours to as little as ten minutes, and cut cost and service reporting time from around four hours to fifteen minutes. In total, RR Donnelley says it is currently averaging a 13% cost savings per mile overall.
MercuryGate also announced two new features:
- TMS Mobile - an iPhone app that allows users to interact with the TMS via their iPhone
- MercuryGate Carrier Management System (CMS) - to help customers manage large numbers of carriers
