Kuehne + Nagel has taken up operations at its new warehouse at Casorate Primo (PV).
The new multi-user facility is dedicated to the storage and distribution of frozen foods and will initially serve the 800 points of sale of Italian retailers Eurospin, PAM and Billa across northern Italy.
The facility is strategically located southwest of the Milan ring road close to the A7 motorway; an ideal gateway to serve the whole northern part of the Italian peninsula.
The new distribution centre provides more than 12,000 m2 of warehouse space and 140,000 m3 of temperature-controlled (-28°C) storage volume. In a next phase of construction, warehouse space can be expanded to 17,000 m2.
The facility allows for the outbound handling of up to eight million cases a year, for distribution across northern Italy via Kuehne + Nagel's dedicated road transport network.
Kuehne + Nagel now operates across 31 locations in Italy.
Effective June 2008, Hamburg Süd has received approval from China's Ministry of Communications to expand it's network of proprietary offices to a number of key locations.
Established in December 2005 in Shanghai, Hamburg Süd (China) has enhanced its presence in the Chinese market with a sustainable and comprehensive network of offices.
The company's new branches are in the key transport hubs of Guangzhou, Ningbo, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Xiamen.
This rapid development is also reflected in advancements made in Hamburg Süd's liner services, which now offer multiple sailings every week in the trades between China and South America, South Africa, Australasia, and, most recently, the Indian Subcontinent.
This month, the company also launched two new weekly fixed-day services linking China to India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
