The first 747-8 Freighter was towed out of the factory in Everett, Washington on November 12th, almost a year later than originally scheduled.
The aircraft, ultimately destined for Cargolux, will be painted and begin preparations for flight test.
The new high-capacity 747-8 Freighter promises to give cargo operators the lowest operating costs and best economics of any freighter aircraft, while providing enhanced environmental performance, and the stretch of eighteen feet offers 16% more cargo capacity than its predecessor.
Boeing has secured a total of 78 orders for the 747-8F, from launch customer Cargolux, as well as Nippon Cargo Airlines, AirBridgeCargo Airlines, Atlas Air, Cathay Pacific, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, Emirates SkyCargo, Guggenheim and Korean Air.
