The European Commission has adopted the eighth update of the ‘blacklist' of airlines that are banned from flying into EU countries due to safety concerns.
The new list has been posted here.
In summary:
- The Commission has removed the operating ban from Iranian carrier Mahan Airlines.
- Operators from Gabon are not to operate into the EU. However, Gabon Airlines and Afrijet already fly into the EU, and will be allowed to continue but without the possibility of expanding their services.
- The ban on all operations of Ukraine Cargo Airways remains.
- Indonesia (Garuda, Mandala and Air Fast): The Indonesian authorities have yet to develop and implement an efficient oversight program on any of the carriers under their regulatory control, and safety deficiencies have not been corrected.
- Cambodia: The civil aviation authority is expected to agree with ICAO a set of corrective actions to redress its situation, sometime this month.
- Philippines: The government has already taken measures to resolve deficiencies in its safety oversight system, but is advised to complete the process to avoid EU restrictions.
- Yemenia Airways should complete its corrective actions plan by the next meeting of the Air Safety Committee.
