DHL launches direct LCL services from Thailand to US, Germany and Japan


DHL has launched guaranteed weekly direct LCL services connecting Bangkok to Los Angeles, Hamburg and Tokyo.
 

Through DHL's in-house carrier, Danmar Lines, the new weekly direct LCL services cuts transit time by as much as a week.

The new service taps into the key trade lanes for businesses in Thailand.

The US is Thailand's largest export market, with revenue for 2008 totalling more than US$20.2 billion, followed closely by Japan with US$20 billion, while Germany generated US$3.2 billion in export revenue.

According to Amadou Diallo, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, South Asia Pacific, LCL services are in demand from customers seeking ways to ensure greater cost efficiencies for their shipping needs, particularly in the current economic climate.

DHL operates the world's largest LCL network with more than two million cubic metres of LCL freight handled annually via 45,000 point-pairs, and more than twenty origin terminals in South Asia Pacific.

The launch of new direct services in Thailand is part of DHL's ongoing enhancements of LCL service capabilities. This year alone, DHL has launched ten other direct LCL services from China, Japan and India, including:
